Hello All! So this new format will have the picks that are best for a healthier lifestyle. Many popular companies that are having sales might not be on here for a few reasons: they are meat producers, they test on animals, or they have terrible environmental records. So, the list will be selective and cater to that. This format will have all of the local grocery store listings for the Tucson area, however, they do often overlap with what is on sale in Phoenix and the White Mountains.

03/24 – 03/31:

Sprouts:

Don’t forget Double Ad Wednesdays! Ads from the previous week and current week are combined so you can get all the deals from both weeks :) Also, check out their website because they often have unadvertised Website Deals you can use in the store. Check out their website as well for meat and seafood deals as I will not post them here. On the occasion, when there is Organic meats on sale, I will post those.

Produce:

Organic and regular Braeburn Apples: .88/lb!

Strawberries: 1 lb. for $1.25!

***Don’t automatically assume Organic Produce is out of your price range. Check it out and you might be surprised. I always get organic apples for .99/lb. or less, a 1# bag of carrots for .88, and pears in the same price range. Leaf lettuce is not too pricey either. It is always better to buy organic since it is not sprayed with pesticides, is often local, and the workers are generally treated better as well. And I swear, it just tastes sooo much better!! Must be the smaller crops but it is always better tasting! ***

In case you haven’t noticed I have not written on this blog for awhile. It has been for a few reasons: I am burnt out couponing and I have felt a personal conflict with the posts I am doing. Let me explain. Clipping coupons and chasing deals is very rewarding and equally time consuming. Simply put, I needed a break! I also have been conflicted about what deals I have been posting. I LOVE getting great deals at the grocery stores and even getting products for FREE. I am also a strict vegetarian for ethical reasons. I do not believe that animals should be killed for food or clothing. I try, though not always perfectly, to not buy from companies who test on animals. I feel even more strongly about factory farming and the current practices of food production in the United States today. So, when I post deals I am often posting for products I would prefer not to buy because of the company’s unethical practices towards their workers, the animals, and the consumers. It is a genuine conflict and I can clearly see why I have lost gusto in writing about grocery deals and sales.

I have derailed on what I truly believe in the hopes of getting a popular blog up and running. A very good and wise friend said it simply, “Write about and show what you do to save money while keeping your beliefs and passions in the forefront.” So simple, eh? I know. Sometimes we need that push from someone other than ourselves to give us the reinforcement and encouragement to do what we know we should.

So, this is what I am going to do: This site will be how to save money using coupons while buying products from companies that are true to my beliefs. I think if everyone could make small changes in their shopping habits then maybe we can help change the food industry and help them be more accountable to us, our children, and the planet. I will do my best to explain my viewpoints so you can understand where I am coming from. You may agree or not but at least I am bringing these issues to the forefront that I feel are so vital to our future and our lives today. I do not want to come across as some crazy hippy or an idealist. I do not want to be a site to force feed anyone anything. I am an average mom in middle class America trying to provide the best food and products for my family. Period.

I want to show how I buy as much organic produce, eco-friendly products, and goods from sustainable companies while I stick to a meager budget. If I can do it, I know you can too! :)
