Just wanted to give a shout out to the Earth today! :) HOLLA!!

Here is what I do to try and help make the earth a little better place:

- Wash clothes in cold water (except towels and sheets. I have limits!)
- Do not use bleach.
- Run dishwasher without the dry/heat setting.
- Eat a vegetarian diet. Try it once a week for one meal!
- Therm set at 76 degrees. Gonna be hard to keep it at that in the summer! I like it really cold!
- Use reusable grocery bags at the store. Don’t you love it when you get the evil eye from the cashier? good times!
-Reusable drink containers for Starbucks and a reusable water bottle.
- Trying to cut down on plastic bag use. Anyone know where I can buy reusable sandwich wraps?
- Shutting off any lights when a room is not being used.
- Slowly switching to CFLs. Kitchen: DONE.
- Trying to cut down on paper towel use. Cutting up old shirts and using them works.
- Run multiple errands in the car at once.
- Buy produce, eggs, and meat from local farmer’s markets.

I would like to:

- Line dry clothes.
- Eliminate any need for paper towels.
- Switch completely to organic foods.

- Appreciate my surroundings more!

I have heard conflicting theories on the cold-water-wash idea. One that interested me was that the only actual disinfection that happens with laundry happens in the dryer because of the removal of water (duh) and the heat. Bacteria loves damp.

On the other hand, makes sense to me that warm or hot water would kill germs/bacteria in the washer.

Just don’t know :)
